Our Team

Victoria Bowns

Hi, my name is Victoria Bowns, I was the Vice Chair for VILC 10 and have been granted the privilege of being this year’s Chair. I am from the beautiful Creston Valley in the Kootenays and am just finishing up my degree in Sociology and Criminology. I have dedicated my time throughout my degree to uphold positions in my department as a research assistant, student representative, and club president while also volunteering for Women’s shelters handing issues regarding domestic abuse. Over the last year, I have contributed to various research projects dealing with plastic marine debris and social issues experienced by sex workers in Nanaimo, fuelling my passion for social justice. When I’m not invested in these projects, you can catch me playing shows singing and playing guitar.

I believe leadership is fundamental in any avenue of one’s life and am excited to contribute my own experiences to create a conference for student’s to discover their own strengths and confidence for their future pursuits.

Dustin King

life I’ve learned that I’m the normal one. It’s those that spend their days acting out who they think they should be that are the weird ones. With that said, I’m a very open-minded individual who, just like everyone else, has an unlimited capacity to learn. I plan to use this capacity, over the next few years, to develop my personality to the point that the world doesn’t mind watching.

I’m excited to be a part of the VILC 2019 because it allows me the opportunity to continue developing my interpersonal skills at a professional level. Not only that but it’s an amazing chance to have like-minded individuals come together to work towards a future that’s well worth living!

Outside of school, my hobbies would have to be exercising and fitness as it gives me constant goals to achieve and it forces me to self-develop, along with outdoor activities as Canada showed me how beautiful it is to be alive and explore.
